Rhodochrosite, Uchucchaqua Mine, Peru MM#12

Rhodochrosite, Uchucchaqua Mine, Peru, MM#12, 50mm x 46mm x 36mm, 100.5 grams, Price: $50.00

Black, bubbly manganite showcases a display of gemmy, pink to red rhodochrosite crystals.

Rhodochrosite is composed of manganese carbonate. In its rare, pure form it is typically rose-red in color. Impure specimens may be shades of pink to brown. Calcium, magnesium and zinc frequently substitute for manganese in the crystal structure, leading to lighter shades of red or pink. Rhodochrosite occurs as a hydrothermal vein mineral along with other manganese minerals in low temperature ore deposits.

These specimens were taken from the Uchucchaqua Mine, located in Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru. A Peruvian mineral dealer has told me that Uchucchaqua has not produced rhodochrosite in the last two years.

Metaphysically, rhodochrosite represents selfless love and compassion. It expands consciousness and integrates spiritual and material energies. Rhodochrosite imparts a dynamic, positive attitude. In healing, rhodochrosite relieves asthma and respiratory problems. It aids in disorders of the circulatory system and kidneys.
