Pyrite, Mundo Nuevo Mine, Peru, MM#32, 109mm x 100mm x 74mm, 653.1 grams, Price: $80.00

A fabulous quartz crystal cluster carries golden cubic pyrite crystals nestled among the quartz. A number of the quartz point contain tiny, embedded pyrite crystals. At right angles to the long axes of the larger quartz points are secondary growth crystals ranging from tiny to nearly microscopic. They come in many forms, from tabular to double terminated, tapered and straight-sided. A 10X loupe and good lighting bring these tiny points out in great detail.

Pyrite or iron pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, is an iron sulfide mineral. Pyrite usually occurs in quartz veins in sedimentary or metamorphic rock. It is often found in association with other sulfide or oxide minerals. These specimens were taken from the Mundo Nuevo Mine. Located in Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru.

Metaphysically, pyrite makes an excellent energy shield. It can block negative energies. Pyrite overcomes feelings of inertia and inadequacy. It increases energy and overcomes fatigue. In healing, pyrite is said to strengthen the digestive system and neutralize toxins. Pyrite can aid in the treatment of asthma and bronchitis.
