Heavily striated cubic pyrites form a cluster that carries a cluster of very unusual, curved quartz points. The largest pyrite measures 12mm.

Pyrite or iron pyrite, also known as fool’s gold, is an iron sulfide mineral. Pyrite usually occurs in quartz veins in sedimentary or metamorphic rock. It is often found in association with other sulfide or oxide minerals. These specimens were taken from the Mundo Nuevo Mine. Located in Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru.
