A black under-layer supports thousands of tiny, blue-green nodules. At the top center, sits a black nodule shaped much like a raspberry.

Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral. It is a secondary mineral and results from alteration of primary copper ores in hydrothermal zones.. Crystals are rare, with fibrous or botryoidal forms more common.

Metaphysically, malachite is apowerful stone. It is a strong protective stone, useful in removing negative energy and pollutants. Malachite guards against nuclear radiation. It is useful in contacting spiritual guidance. In healing, malachite is useful in far too many conditions to list them all here.

These specimens were taken from the Acari Mine, Caraveli Province, Arequipa Department, Peru.
