Fluorite Octahedral Cluster, Mundo Nuevo Mine, Peru MM#9

Fluorite Octahedral Cluster, Mundo Nuevo Mine, Peru MM#9, 48mm x 43mm x 38mm, 71.9 grams, Price: $20.00

The fluorite here is pale blue-green and many octahedral part-crystals can be seen. We also find small quartz points. There is a deposit of a dark mineral in the fluorite/quartz. Based on the mine from which these specimens came and minerals known there, I am going to say that the dark mineral is hubnerite. The piece is nicely fluorescent in UV light.

Fluorite is the mineral form of calcium fluoride. It is a member of the halide mineral group. Fluorite is a colorful mineral, with various chemical impurities producing material in every color of the rainbow. Fluorite crystallizes in the cubic habit. It often occurs as a vein deposit, especially with metallic minerals. It is also common in deposits of hydrothermal origin. These specimens come to you from the Mundo Nuevo Mine, located in Santiago de Chuco Province, La Libertad Department, Peru.

Metaphysically, fluorite is protective, especially on a psychic level. It helps one to determine when outside influences are at work within ones self. Fluorite clears and stabilizes the aura. It is said to be a powerful healer that benefits teeth and bones and repairs DNA damage. As an elixir, it is a potent anti-viral.
